Sure, most working folk are glad to see Friday come. A paycheck, an Old Fashioned, a fish fry and the weekend off are welcome reward for 40 hours at the grindstone. Even if you work to live rather than live to work, riding a bike to your place of employment bookends each day with some fun. I know that for many of us, every week is bike to work week, but I must say that anecdotally I saw a lot more people getting around on two wheels the last four days than I have in previous weeks. Bike to Work Week really does encourage people to give cycle commuting a try. For that alone, we can say thanks to everyone who helped organize so many fun events in communities across the Wisconsin.Advertisement
From the commuter stations like “Bratcakes on the Bike Path” to getting kids involved at our Valid Bike Shop in Milwaukee’s central city, Below are just a few of the highlights from Bike to Work Week. If you have some photos of a bike to work week in a community other than Milwaukee, Madison or Eau Claire, email them to us and we will put them together in a slide show for a blog post next week.
Madison area folks should check out our Week-Ending Celebration at Cronometro from 4:30pm – 7:00pm today! Beverages from Capital Brewery, food from Whole Foods Market Madison Wisconsin. Milwaukee still has the Bicycle Film Festival and closing party Saturday night to look forward to, so don’t miss that if you live nearby. Otherwise, keep riding and long live Bike to Work Week!
