Dave Cieslewicz has been covering a lot of ground in the eight weeks since he took over as executive director.
Just before Thanksgiving the Bike Fed’s Northwestern Regional Director Randy Zarecki put together a packed two-day tour of northern Wisconsin for Dave in which they hit Wausau, Eagle River, Cable, Hayward and St. Croix Falls. Dave and Randy met with local elected officials and municipal staff members, bicycle activists and bike shop owners, and chamber of commerce and tourism directors.
After the holiday Dave headed to La Crosse where Regional Director Carolyn Dvorak set up discussions with city officials and activists from La Crosse and Onalaska.
Next he headed south to Janesville and Beloit where active Bike Fed members Rick Barder and Dean Paynter introduced him to officials and activist in those communities.
Along the way Dave toured a number of potential bike corridors, missing links and new bike facilities. This week he’ll be back to Wausau for a Drinks With Dave event and then he’s off to the Fox River Valley.
Point is that the Bike Fed is a statewide organization and so its director needs to understand what’s going on all over the state. The bonus for Dave is that he gets to meet some great Bike Fed members and cool bike people all over the state while getting to drink in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside along the way.
Want to meet Dave? Join us for Drinks with Dave in Milwaukee on December 10th and Wausau on December 17th.
