A bitter cold day couldn’t keep anyone from the hot deals this year at the Milwaukee Area Bike Swap. Completing the 6th year of the event we yet again sold out all 62 vendor spaces and even found room to squeeze 2 more in last minute. We welcomed over 400 buyers through the doors ,which is the most we have had ever! The Bike Corral made over a dozen sales. All money raised through vendor and entrance fees will go to support the Riverside University High School Wellness Programs and Milwaukee Bicycle Works’youth serving bike programs.Advertisement
A new venue and new day of the week didn’t stop folks from coming out in support of the event. Vendors and volunteers were kept caffeinated due to a kind donation from Colectivo Coffee Roasters
This year we held a Happy “Valid” Hour event after the Swap at the Riverwest Public House, a co-op tavern down the street from Riverside High School. The goal of that event was to enjoy a few drinks courtesy of Pabst Blue Ribbon and New Belgium Brewing after a long day working the swap and also raise money for Valid Bike Shop to help pay for necessary supplies for the shop. We raffled off some swag from Pabst and Cognition Caps, a fantastic Madison based cycling cap maker, and of course Tony Berger won one of the packages. We raised over $500 to support Valid and may have started a new Post-Bike Swap tradition so thanks so much to all those who came out with us and ate drank and were merry!
