Walktober is Underway, so Walk This Way

Share & Be Aware ambassadors spent the first day of Walktober taking on the traffic of Brady Street near North Farwell Avenue. Earlier this year Dolores Soracchi died while attempting to cross the street near that intersection.

Ambassadors help people cross and educate people driving

The ambassadors placed a sign at the intersection in remembrance of her and it will ideally remain there for the course of the month. Another sign will be placed tomorrow for Renaldo Wilson who was hit and killed by a person driving, who may have been drinking.

Ghost Shoes, a sign and flowers will be placed for Wilson at 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Wisconsin Avenue and North 36th Street. Several ambassadors will also be on site helping pedestrians cross and educating driver’s about the yielding law. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome to join and help advocate for the safety of those who walk in the city of Milwaukee.

Memorials and crosswalk actions will continue to take place through at least Oct. 17. Join us at any of this week’s events:
