Wisconsin Is #1!

My Badger pride has been bursting for the last week as Wisconsin held the top spot in the National Bike Challenge. While Nebraska and Vermont are not far back, we seem to be off the front with a good gap. Hopefully we can hold off those Corn Huskers who beat us last year. Way to go Wisconsin, keep pedaling!

First I click on the LEADERBOARDS, then STATES, and finally I select CHALLENGE PERIOD to see how we are doing against our rivals in Nebraska and Vermont.

I hope most of you have been enjoying the Challenge this year and like the new website. I know the roll-out was a bit slow, but now that it is up and running, I really like the new website much better than going through the Endomondo site to find the challenge information. I check the Leaderboards most every day, not because I am in the running, but because Wisconsin has dueling with Nebraska and Vermont.

Be sure to go into the Moves App settings by clicking the little M in the lower right, and change the tracking priority to the battery saving mode.

It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but now that I have, I follow the same steps every day. After I login, I click on the LEADERBOARDS, then I select STATES, and finally I click CHALLENGE PERIOD, so I can see how Wisconsin is doing compared to other states since the National Challenge began. You can also choose to look at the LEADERBOARDS for individual riders or workplaces to see how you are doing compare to others. You can even look at just female riders or just male riders.

Finally, I can’t say enough good things about how the Moves App automatically logs my miles. No more forgetting to start or turn off Endomondo. If you haven’t tried it, the app is free. Just be sure to go into the settings (the M in the lower right corner) and set the Tracking Priority to Battery Saving instead of Accuracy.

Of course this is just a healthy competition to encourage more people to get out there and ride, but let’s keep it up Wisconsin!

  1. Hi Dave,

I too am happy to see WI as #1. Appleton rider Mary Catterton, is consistently in the top 10 nationally but does not show on the Wisconsin leaderboard. Also, Appleton does not show in the rankings of Wisconsin communities. Are the miles ridden by the folks in Appleton being counted?

  2. and I’m sure we would have even more miles if Moves was more accurate when biking in the city. Mine at least seems to tag me at certain locations then calculate the distance as the crow flys.
Glad to see we’re on top!
