Blue Mound State Park Master Plan Amendment
Posted onby
Resident Dirt tester Matt here.
I would like to cordially invite you to join us for our July Wisconsin Mountain Bike Advocacy call, where Walter Hougas of the Capital Off Road Pathfinders (C.O.R.P.) will be joining us to discuss the Blue Mound State Park Master Plan Amendment. Also joining us is Michael Repyak, District Trails Coordinator for the WI-DNR, who will help explain the process we are undergoing with regards to the Master Plan Amendment.
The call will take place on Thursday, JULY 30th, at 12:00pm (noon).
The Wisconsin DNR has decided that updating the Master Plan for Blue Mound State Park will be one of it’s priorities this year. For those of you who are not familiar with the trails at Blue Mounds, they have about 13 total miles of trails. Great climbing, technical riding, as well as some flow trail.
The WI-DNR has been holding what they refer to as a “Stakeholder” meetings. These meetings are designed to be information gathering forums for the DNR to get input from the various groups who have or are asking for access to the park. Walter is the trail steward at Blue Mounds and will be informing us as to how we can help continue to improve the mountain bike trails at Blue Mounds, next steps in the amendment process, and what each one of us can do to help C.O.R.P. move mountain biking forward in the Blue Mounds.
For those of you who are interested in showing up and supporting mountain biking at Blue Mound State Park, there will be a number of opportunities to make your voice heard and support mountain biking. See this link with more information.
Please inform your mountain bike friends! This is probably the best opportunity we will ever have to get more trails and improve mountain biking at Blue Mound, as well as setting a precedent for future mountain bike trails in exciting parks, and future parks.
