Bike Fed’s 35th Anniversary

The Bike Fed turns 35 this year and we’re celebrating by throwing ourselves a birthday party in our own backyard and sharing history, as well as offering the opportunity to show support and get commemorative socks!

Since 1988, the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin/Wisconsin Bike Fed has been Wisconsin’s only statewide organization with a mission to make bicycling more convenient, safe, accessible, and fun.

Founders, members, email subscribers, partners, friends in biking, and anyone who enjoys a good time was invited to celebrate with us on Friday, September 15, 2023 outside of Bike Fed HQ in Milwaukee for a cookout, drinks, games, cake, and live 80’s music.

We could not have asked for better weather on a late summer evening. Funds raised at the birthday party support Bike Fed advocacy, education, and programming. Thanks to all who attended and hope you had as much fun as we did! Winner of the 50/50 cash raffle – Steve Arnold!

We’ll share photos soon so we can all relive the experience! In the meantime, enjoy some history and opportunities to support in other ways:

Visit the “About the Wisconsin Bike Fed” webpage and get introduced to the group of eight who were inspired to create the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, when the name was changed to Wisconsin Bike Fed, who has been leading the advocacy efforts (recognize any names?), and 35 reasons why the Bike Fed has been making an impact for cyclists.

Members – Donate $35 and Get Anniversary Socks!

Members who share a thoughtful donation of $35 will receive an exclusive pair of commemorative socks with the anniversary logo. Active members, previous members who rejoin, and new members can all celebrate in style. Learn more and donate here.

Merchandise!

As a nod to the ’80s, we’ve introduced brighter colors on our classic “Forward” design for adults, plus fresh styles for younger riders, and an adorable onesie for little ones “born to pedal.” Visit the online store to check all of the possibilities, plus maps and trail passes.

Enjoy these photos from the September 15th Birthday Party as we continue the celebration.
Thanks to Bike Fed staffer Zoe and volunteer Doug for capturing the moments!
