Racer X Reports: Velo Trocadero Halloween Cyclocross
Posted onby
For the last 7 years, the Velo Trocadero racing team has been putting on a really fun race in Milwaukee’s Washington Park. Participants are encouraged to race in costume, and some folks really go all out. I think Katy Steudel remains all time winner of the costume contest for the building a paper mache horse costume for her bike and racing in equestrian clothing. You can check out her costume in the slideshow from last year’s race coverage in this post.
The Federick Law Olmsted designed park was packed as more than 350 racers and hundreds of spectators showed up for the spectacle, the 8th race in the WCA Crank Daddy’s Cyclocross Series. In case you couldn’t make it, the slide show below should give you enough encouragement to pencil in the race on your 2012 calendar.
If you have a race report you want to share, send us an email with 300-600 word report and include some photographs. You could be our next Racer X.

The Papa Smurf costume was the best!
Thanks for the coverage, Dave. I have to disagree with Cullen and say that while Papa Smurf is far and away the best racer, the (athletically-challenged) medical patient, wins best costume! The chenille-clad ballet dancer is a distant second.
