The Milwaukee community showed their support for bicycling in Wisconsin by converging at Turner Hall to raise over $7,000 to move cycling forward. Local businesses and organizations were on hand to greet guests and offer resources to keep active year round. We were joined by Bublr Bikes, River West Outdoor, Milwaukee Bike Polo and the Friends of Hank Aaron State Trails, among others. Several local bike shops like Wheel & Sprocket, Ben’s Cyclery, Truly Spoken, and South Shore Cyclery were on hand to showcase their products and encourage biking year round weather.
Marcus Doucette of 88Nine Radio Milwaukee entertained the crowd while attendees mingled and noshed on complimentary food from Lowlands Group, Asian International Market, Thai Lotus, Thai BBQ and Vientiane Noodle Shop.
Attendee’s won fantastic raffle packages worth over $6,000 in bike gear, gift certificates and much more. At the end of the evening, over 30 attendee’s hauled away the goods with bright smiles on their face.
Peter Mulvey, Milwaukee native and solo guitarist, performed later and shared his bicycling adventures touring in the U.S. Guests were pleasantly when Mulvey milled around the room sharing stories with attendees.
The evening sparked when Nick Ginster of Fyxation jumped onstage to auction off two limited edition bikes. The face off was between a Colectivo and a Pabst branded Fyxation. The Pabst bike took the win raising $1,200 for the Bike Fed with the total from the live auction bikes and the Lowlands Group Bierklasse raising over $2,300!
Hats off to our sponsors, members and new supporters for helping make Bikes & Beats a success! We couldn’t have done it without 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, Turner Hall, Fyxation, BiKASE, Lowlands Group, Wheel & Sprocket, Team Sports and all of our raffle donors.
