CAMBA TO HOLD GALA FUND RAISING EVENT

Boogie in the Barn – August 22

The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) will hold its first-ever Gala fund raising event – Boogie in the Barn – on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. The historical Tin Roof Barn on Wald Road in Cable will provide the setting for what promises to be an evening of great fun.

“We wanted to take a different approach to this event,” noted CAMBA executive director Ron Bergin. “The Tin Roof Barn offers a unique setting for an event of this nature; we are very grateful to Kent and Elaine Adams for offering their home for our Gala.”  The Tin Roof Barn is the site of the former Cable Dairy near Cable Lake.

Everyone is welcome and CAMBA invites all members of the community to celebrate and support the area’s world-class trails and help CAMBA further its legacy of trail advocacy and community investment. It will be an evening of food, dancing, live and silent auctions and without a doubt, the mountain biking social event of the season.

Dinner will be provided by Divine Swine Catering – with an on-site pig roast, plus roast turkey and vegetarian options. Hayward’s own Angry Minnow beer will be served, with wine and soft drinks available.

Single Track Mind of the Twin Cities will liven up the crowd with acoustic folk-rock, Americana, singer-songwriter originals and stylized covers, so you are encouraged to bring your dancing shoes!

An impressive array of items has been assembled for the live and silent auctions taking place during the evening. And not only bicycling-related products (though there will definitely be some), but such exciting items as a vacation stay in Mexico, guided kayaking adventure, guided grouse hunting, catered Lake Owen dinner party, custom hand-built fly rod and a private dinner party at the Delta Diner, to name but a few.  The complete list of items will be posted on the CAMBA website.

In addition, there will be a special presentation by Tim Krueger of Advocate Cycles, who will describe his new venture as a Special Benefit Corporation that “cycles” funds back to worthy bicycling related causes.

Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased online at www.cambatrails.org (click Events, then Boogie in the Barn) or directly from one of the Gala organizing committee members: Allison Slavick, Steve Morales, Dani McGarthwaite, Ron Bergin, Ian Finch, or Julie Rudolph.

All proceeds benefit the maintenance and development of the CAMBA trails. A special thank you to these  generous sponsors: Trek Bicycle, Farmers Insurance, Enbridge Energy, King Realty, Divine Swine, New Moon Bike Shop, Quality Bicycle Products and Advocate Cycles, that have helped make this event possible.

As an added bonus, the Seeley Lions Pre-Fat race will be held the same day. Come for the Gala and take in the race! Or come for the race and stay for the Gala – it will be a great day either way.
