Ride the Wisconsin Spring Classics

Want to ride to Belgium? Yes!

Will you meet me in Paris? Sure!

When in Rome? Wear your Cow of Wisconsin Kit from Borah Teamwear with pride!

March is the new May, so open your calendar and pencil in these fun new FREE rides to Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Paris, and Rome. All rides are part of the new Wisconsin Spring Classics Series we created to give our members something fun to look forward to in the early spring. The rides are hosted by some of our favorite local bike shops, and will end back at the shop with a small Classic’s viewing party.

Nous arrivons! This is about all there is to downtown Paris, WI

If you want to have one of the cool new Cow of Wisconsin kits in time for the March rides, please place your order by the end of the January! Order by the end of February and Borah Teamwear will ship for April delivery. Of course we will keep the store open for people who want to place orders later and get their kits after the Spring Classic Series is over.  Worried about the fit on those sweet wool jerseys or jackets? We have a sizing kit so you can find the size that fits you best.

The OTW Midweight Cycling Jacket is a trim-fit, ergonomic cycling jacket, featuring dual-zipper for easy venting, reflective rear piping, and water-resistant, breathable performance design.

A few years ago we held a couple of these and they were a lot of fun. It was great to get 60 to 100 early season miles in with friends. To get a feel for what the 2016 Wisconsin Spring Classics Series Rides will be like, you can read this blog post about our Belgium adventure and trip #2 to Paris here.

Basically, these are all long, self-supported, training rides. Depending on the route and the host business, there will probably be a stop for food midway along the ride somewhere. These are rides, NOT races, but the pace will be fast casual (15mph-20mph). There will be a no-drop policy, but if you have never ridden more than 25 miles, you might want to train a bit before you attempt one of these. The rides will be free, but we ask that everyone be a Bike Fed member for insurance reasons.

While not an official Bike Fed Spring Classic, the Door County Silent Sports Association is having a very Belgianesque ride a little later in May. Since they are a Bike Fed member club, we are sharing their Route de Sud here as well.

Each ride will finish with a small party and possibly a viewing party to watch one of the real Spring Classics. You can do them all, a couple or just one. You can even buy the cool new Spring Classics “Cow of Wisconsin” Kits if you can’t make any of the rides. The goal is to get together for fun, put on some base miles, and see a little bit of Old World Wisconsin.

These rides will run no matter the weather and some routes include unpaved trails. You neat freaks who get flustered about your cluster, pull on your wool jersey and get in a Belgian state of mind. Wanna ride a fixie? Cool! Fatbike? Bring it! Vintage steel? Yes please!

To make things interesting, we will have a raffle with a bunch of prizes, including one of the great items from the Borah Teamwear Spring Classics kits. Everyone who comes on any of the rides will get one raffle ticket for each ride he or she attends, and people will be able to purchase extra tickets. We will announce all the prizes and other raffle rules a little closer to the rides.

All of the roads will look like this, I promise 😉

As excited as we are to bring you this fun new ride series, we are just as pumped about the new Cow of Wisconsin kits. Our Coon Valley riding pals up at Borah Teamwear are making everything from short sleeves to a jacket and even the very cool long sleeve Ardent Wool jersey, which I am particularly excited to get! Because they have to build in production lead time and these are all made to order, you should buy what you want before the end of January if you want to have it in time for the March rides.

How sweet is that kit?!

But don’t worry, we will keep the Spring Classics apparel webstore open long after the rides are done. We think these new kits will become classics in their own right!
