The Milwaukee People’s Flag Bike

Photos by Tim Reddington

Over the years, we have worked with our good friends over at Fyxation to take their stock bikes and customize them for the Bike Fed as auction items at our FUNdraising events. We like to think those bikes inspired them to start their ever growing custom bicycle business, producing cool bikes for Lakefront Brewery, Pabst, Goose Island, Zip Car, etc.

These bikes have been used as promotions, employee incentives, custom fleets for offices/apartments and other uses that are designed around our customers needs. The’ve worked on custom bike projects as small as one unique bike that was used as an auction item for the Bike Fed at our Saris Gala to entire fleets of over 300 bikes for their large corporate customers.

Introducing the Fyxation Flag Series

For the first time, Fyxation is making custom bikes anyone can ride with their new Fyxation Flag Series. What started as a one off design for the City of Milwaukee, the Flag Series consists of two beautifully designed bikes inspired by the People’s Flag of Milwaukee and the iconic four star Chicago Flag.  These custom bikes were inspired by these truly unique city flags and are the beginning of what we expect to be a great series of custom bikes designed for cycling friendly cities across the country.

The Flag Series bikes are a limited edition run of bikes and they only made 40 of each design. Once these bikes are gone they’ll be retired and they don’t expect them to last long. In addition to these amazing custom paint jobs, these custom Fyxation Eastsides come stock with sealed bearing wheels, Fyxation Session 700 tires and are built around our durable, 4130 chromoly Eastside frameset. The Eastside was designed right here in the 414 to be ridden in tough urban environments like Milwaukee and Chicago, so it’s fitting that the first two Flag Series bikes are about to hit the streets in the cities that inspired them.

Try to forget about those Cubs and just admire the bike.

These bikes can be purchased online here on Fyxation’s site or at your local Fyxation dealer. You can see one in person if you visit the Fyxation club house any day they are open on Humboldt Ave. During Doors Open Milwaukee, Sept. 23rd and 24th, you can also see one hanging in the cool new Velobahn Coffee shop and Wisconsin Cycling Hall of Fame below the Bike Fed’s Milwaukee office.
