Wednesday October 10th is the official day, but here in WI few call it WALKtober and encourage our friends and neighbors to celebrate any day this month that works for your school! In the past some schools combine costume parade closer to Halloween to make it extra fun!
Here are some tips to get a last minute event planned!
Also if you are having an event please register it here! http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/registration/

Safe Kids Oconto County is excited to have 2 Oconto County schools participate in International Walk to School Day this year! Lena School District and Oconto Elementary will be participating. The events are taking place in the morning, before school starts, on Wednesday, October 10th. We have developed a number of new partnerships with the events and the communities/schools are very excited! FedEx is the program sponsor for this event.
We are looking for several volunteers for Lena’s event. We will be offering Clifford Takes a Walk readings to students in 4K-1st grades at Lena on October 8th & 9th leading up to the event. I am planning to schedule the readings with the teachers today and will email the times when I have them set. We are also looking for volunteers for registration, mascots, handing out refreshments, chaperoning and walking with the kiddos, etc. the morning of the event. For Oconto’s event we are looking for coalition members to represent Safe Kids Oconto County and walk with the kids. Volunteer times would be approximately 7:15 AM-8:30 AM. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to help! If interested contact
