MilWALKee Walks Action Workshop scheduled for August 23rd

MilWALKee Walks is a Wisconsin Bike Fed program funded through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety.  Its goal is to improve the streets of Milwaukee through community engagement  and skill-building focused on changing the built environment to safer streets where people will feel comfortable walking and biking.

Safe and Healthy Streets is a  resident and bicycle advocacy group which began in 2015, initially called Path to Platinum. This is an active transportation resident group that prioritizes people, providing education and empowerment in the pursuit of better walking, bicycling and safer streets for all Milwaukeeans.

MilWALKee Walks and Safe and Healthy Streets are partnering to present a FREE workshop in Milwaukee on August 23rd from 9am-3 pm at the Velobahn Cafe, 3618 w. Pierce Street.  The hands on workshop will share ways to build a network of community members to create change.

Participants will gain insights team focused on change, learn pedestrian advocacy techniques, experience methods for on-street creative place-making and participate in a walkability assessment experience.

This unique opportunity will combine content from community experts and include time to participate in active demonstrations and data collection.  Attendees will leave the workshop with great ideas and a toolkit to get started making change. Don’t miss this great opportunity!
