Experience downtown La Crosse like never before
Join us on Sunday, June 9th for Open Streets La Crosse, Presented by the Wisconsin Bike Fed and Mayo Clinic Health System and Gundersen Health System, with support from Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. La Crosse Public Library and the City of La Crosse.
Imagine a day without car traffic. Open Streets events create car-free spaces where people and families bike, walk, dance, play, and socialize. At the same time, local neighborhood businesses and vendors engage the community in fresh, new ways. You’ll experience an exciting stretch of downtown La Crosse like never before. Yoga, dance, art, and other activities will be available for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy on streets temporarily closed-off to cars. Open Streets is a worldwide movement modeled after Ciclovia, which began in Bogota, Columbia. The idea focuses on minimizing the use of cars and temporarily promoting biking, walking and active living in the communal spaces that are otherwise dominated or made unsafe or unhealthy by moving and parked cars.
