The Wisconsin Bike Fed Council of Advocates held its final meeting of 2023 on December 6th, discussing upcoming events and advocacy opportunities. We were also fortunate enough to be treated to an awesome presentation from Charlie Carlin at Gathering Waters about the ins and outs of the Knowles-Nelson stewardship program and the complications that have come with the on-going state lawsuit over the program. If you wish to learn more about the Knowles-Nelson program, please visit the DNR’s page on the topic and the official Knowles-Nelson website. Thank you to all of our Advocates who were able to attend and add to the robust discussion! If you were not able to attend the meeting and seek even more information on the Knowles-Nelson program and lawsuit, please reach out to Collin Mead (email address listed below) and he will send you a copy of Charlie Carlin’s slidedeck.

Since the Council of Advocates was first introduced at the start of 2022, our membership has continued to grow, with 59 counties now represented. While this is great progress, our vision is to have a member from each of Wisconsin’s 72 counties – if you’re interested in advancing cycling and trails initiatives in Wisconsin and from a county that does not currently have representation, please see which counties are still needed by viewing our recent article here
