2024 WI Healthy Communities Summit Recap
The Wisconsin Bike Fed and the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation proudly hosted the second biennial Wisconsin Healthy Communities Summit in 2024 following a successful inaugural event in 2022.
The 2024 Wisconsin Healthy Communities Summit was held on Monday, April 29th at the UW-Madison Memorial Union. The day consisted of engaging breakout sessions, insightful keynote speakers, and active workshops that armed attendees with newfound knowledge and strategies to take back to their communities.
Attendees heard from leaders in the outdoor recreation industry on how to take a trail project from start to finish, from legislators and local government officials on how to build a grassroots coalition to support projects and policy, and from experts in the cycling and pedestrian field on how to make our streets safer. Our keynote speakers, Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers, Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, author Jessie Singer, and State Representative Francesca Hong provided inspiring words throughout the day that kept the focus on bringing positive change to communities around the state.
We are thankful for all of the community members, local organizations, outdoor recreation experts, and keynote speakers that were able to join us in creating a very collaborative and fruitful event. If you weren’t able to join us this year, we hope you’ll consider joining us for our Bike Advocacy Day in Madison next spring, or our next summit to take place in fall 2025 or spring 2026!
For those who did attend, please keep your eyes peeled for an email from event organizers with a post-summit survey. We very much value your feedback so that we can continue to improve this event going forward!
