The Bike Fed is pleased to share that a new mountain biking opportunity is coming to Peninsula State Park in Door County! Last year, the Friends of Peninsula State Park organization hired a mountain bike trail planning consultant to begin working on a plan for the state park. The plan was completed in conjunction with Peninsula State Park staff along with other Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff.

The consultation resulted in a two-phase plan:

  • Phase 1: 9 new miles of purpose-built mountain biking trails in Peninsula State Park. This phase is fully funded ($650,000) thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Friends of Peninsula State Park organization.
  • Phase 2: The final 9 miles of purpose-built mountain biking trails to be completed in 2025 or 2026.

This exciting collaboration between the Wisconsin DNR staff and the Friends of Peninsula State Park will enhance the Park’s status as a year-round recreation destination while protecting its ecological features. This new trail system will provide a long-term economic benefit to Door County and the surrounding area by providing more recreation activities for tourists and local trail enthusiasts. Make sure to get Door County on your must-visit list for next summer to check out the new trails!
