The Illini Weekend Getaway – The Champaign of Rides is a two-day ride (Saturday and Sunday) based in Champaign, IL and you will be able to ride as many miles as you want both days! The routes consist of four 25-mile loops (north, south, east, and west) and one 14-mile loop out of one central rest stop location. Showers will be available after the ride both days as well. The same routes will be available to ride both Saturday and Sunday.
By combining these routes, participants will be able to ride as much or as little as they like. Riding the metric loop in addition to two of the main 25-mile loops will allow riders to ride a total of 62 miles or 100 kilometers (known as a metric century.
These routes are perfect for riders who prefer flat riding and do not want hills. The terrain is entirely flat and the only hills are overpasses over highways and railroad tracks. In addition, since each loop begins and ends at the central rest stop location the net elevation gain and net grade for every possible ride is zero. Every foot you pedal up you’ll be able to ride back down!
In town our routes will primarily follow low travelled residential streets, many of which are designated bike routes with signed bike lanes. In the country our routes will primarily follow pristine, fully paved, remote county back roads.
