The Hammond High School Multi-Use Trail Extension project would extend an existing trail from the High School along Broadway Street (County TT) in downtown Hammond, which would allow the majority of kids who walk or bike to school a safe route to rely on instead of having to walk in the grass or snow alongside a busy road.
The Village of Hammond applied in spring of 2023 to receive grant funding from the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), and were successful in receiving $507,760 for the extension. Bike Fed employees met with the Village in the fall of 2023 to connect with the community and discuss the possibility of further project expansions in the future.
