Become a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor and join the Bike Fed’s growing network of educators providing local resources to riders across the state.

Do you love bikes? Do you love your community? Do you want to be an educational resource to help educate and train other riders in your community to be safe and confident riders!? Then this opportunity is for you.

Wisconsin Bike Fed is excited to be hosting a League of American Bicyclists – League Certified Instructor training at our headquarters in Milwaukee on September 26th-28th, 2025. Through a grant with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation we are lucky to be able to provide this class FREE (normally $550). The only cost to you as a trainee is the League of American Bicyclists membership fee and LCI fee. ($85 annually to maintain access to resources and insurance coverage, discounts for multi year memberships)

Why Become a LCI?

Anyone who is a resident of Wisconsin can apply. Bike Fed staff will review applications and choose people who can help us reach all corners of the state and have the opportunity to provide the most impact beyond the training. We know we can not have staff in every county all the time. This is a step towards Bike Fed building a network of local community human resources who know their community best and can help spread bike safety messages and training.

This three day program is intense, we don’t want to fool you. It is truly for those who will passionately use these skills to volunteer (possibly get paid too!) and engage with their community to grow cycling.

All applicants will also be required to complete an Advanced Smart Cycling class ahead of time and register for LCI class by Sept 5th.
