Happiness is a bicycle and a sunny day, throw in a field of sunflowers and for me you really can’t get any better than that.

In Waushara County you will see bicyclists everywhere.  From rides to get coffee, bloody marys, ice cream, to see sunflower fields, go to dairy breakfasts and other destination rides.  Just post that you want to ride in our Waushara Social Cycling Facebook page and you’ll find someone to ride with.  We welcome you and we know you will have fun biking in Waushara County.

There are 10 bike routes that total around 270 miles overall throughout our beautiful Waushara County roads and we would love to see you get to enjoy them too.  We have flat roads, rolling hills and some hills that can be a real doozy.  If you want to challenge yourself, take a quick detour off of Route #6 and climb the Mt. Morris Park Hill, just about a ½ mile long, the average grade is 6.7% (15.2% at the steepest) and about 170 feet of elevation gain, when you get to the top ride over to the scenic overlook for a picture.

If you’re not sure where to start in Waushara County, you can check out our Biking in Waushara County webpage. Here you can find our PDF version of our bike routes along with links to download the routes on your Garmin or through Strava.  If you are looking for a paper version of the booklets you can find these at the Waushara County Government Center in the Public Health Dept or the Waushara Tourism kiosks throughout the county.

Wednesday night ride on Route #1
Sunday Bloody Mary ride stops at Kuckuk Farms

Waushara County also has some fantastic mountain biking trails located in Mt. Morris at the Nordic Mountain Ski Hill.  Just a change of scenery, the wildlife, the sounds of nature, crunching pine needles and leaves, all can be mentally relaxing and help reduce stress. Our bodies release endorphins during mountain biking, which are a natural chemical that can boost our mood and also can help with anxiety and depression.  Our trails are groomed and maintained by Mt Morris Single Track (formerly Waushara Area Mountain Bike Association).  We have nine miles of trails for mountain biking in the summer and 3 miles of trails for fat tire biking in the winter for all your biking pleasure.

Come visit us in Waushara County!

Check out our trails or ride on one or all of our bike routes and see just how beautiful our county really is. We hope we’ll see you here.
