Milwaukee Pride Ride

During Bike Week, Milwaukee celebrated its 8th annual Pride Ride from the Riverwest neighborhood to the historic ‘Gayborhood’ in Walker’s Point. This year over 100 people joined the ride! The Bike Fed’s LGBTQ staff led the community in bicycle decorating workshops before rolling around the neighborhood, through downtown, and ultimately to the Pride Parade. This was the 2nd year that our slow roll ended with the option to join the Bike Fed in our parade unit “Cargo Queens.” Several riders came with their own bike trailers already designed and ready to get into the Cargo Queens spirit. Highlights included our own 6ft Rainbow on a bike trailer as well as another float with the title “Transformation”, which included a trans pride themed paper mache butterfly and chrysalis. It was a beautiful spectacle full of joy.  Even more exciting, the Cargo Queens rode behind Harley Davidson’s float, with employees showcasing Serial 1 e-bikes, while also pulling a truck sized ramp for skilled BMX stunt people to do flips and tricks over the truck!
