After a successful Summit in 2022, Bike Fed is delighted to once again partner with the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation to present the Wisconsin Healthy Communities Summit on April 29th at the UW-Madison Union. Join us for information, ideas, and inspiration from national and local experts, and return home energized to make a difference!

In these weeks leading up to the Summit, we are delighted to highlight some of the dynamic speakers and presenters that are participating this year.

Today we invite you to come hear from one of the best legislators in the business when it comes to advocacy: State Representative Francesca Hong. We have EXTENDED the registration deadline for the summit through this weekend, so be sure to get your tickets by April 21st to attend the 2024 Wisconsin Healthy Communities Summit

State Representative Francesca Hong is a true champion of the people in Wisconsin. Growing up with two hard-working and dedicated parents, Rep. Hong knew she, too, could accomplish whatever she set her mind to for her career. Before becoming a legislator, Rep. Hong spent over a decade working in the restaurant industry. She worked her way through various restaurant kitchens starting as a line cook, making her way to sous chef, and eventually making it as an Executive Chef at 43 North Restaurant.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Rep. Hong noticed that so many people across the state were struggling with sudden unemployment, food and housing insecurity, and health concerns. This realization made her jump into action to run for office to try and do more for the people of Wisconsin.

Since taking office in 2020, Rep. Hong has worked in the state legislature trying to improve the lives of those not only in her district in Madison, but around the state. Rep. Hong has and will continue to advocate for the betterment of overall community health, bolstering the state economy, improving education practices and accessibility, protecting the state’s natural resources such as our lakes, rivers and forest lands, and improving the accessibility of outdoor recreation and public transportation.

Rep. Hong will be attending various sessions throughout the day at the Summit, mingling with other community health and recreation experts before providing attendees with words of inspiration during the closing keynote session. The closing keynote address will happen at approximately 4:15pm immediately following the afternoon super sessions.

We are honored to have such knowledgeable and talented keynote speakers joining us for this year’s summit! Find all the speakers and presenters on the event website.
