We are excited to offer Adventure Bike Day Camp based out of the MIDDLETON WHEEL & SPROCKET.

Open to rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Experience Middleton, Madison, and surrounding communities by bike, and learn to be a safe, independent cyclist. Travel via shared paths and on roads to expand your knowledge of the Dane County bicycle network.

Day Camp runs 9am-4:00pm MON – FRI. Supervised early drop-off at starts at 8:45am; and supervised late pick up until 4:30pm. Please see registration options for extended before and after care.

Campers must know how to ride a bike and be comfortable riding and being outside with a bike all day (with rests at fun stops). Safe riding techniques from our Bicycle Driver’s Ed curriculum will be the focus the first couple of days along with short rides becoming longer towards the end of the week as the group progresses and gains more confidence and skill. Some of our previous campers have ridden up to 35 miles in a day!

Participants must bring their own bike, helmet and water bottle, lunch and a backpack/panniers for carrying food and personal gear.

Special snacks at some rest stops (think ice cream!) and extra water refills will be provided.

While our staff are able to make minor fixes or adjustments, we strongly encourage your child’s bike to be looked over at a local bike shop prior to camp. Please make repair appointments early. Bike shops get very busy in the spring and summer.

Camp is led by Caitlin Hussey, Bike Fed’s Education and Engagement Manager. Caitlin was trained on bike safety education with our award-winning Milwaukee education team and has been implementing Safe Routes to School Programs in Dane County since July 2021.

*Please note we will need 10 participants to register to be able to host the adventure camp due to budgetary constraints and proper staffing. *
