After a twelve year hiatus, L’Alpe Bl’Huez Time Trial will return on Saturday June 8, 2024. Registration and more information is on BikeReg. Pick up numbers at the top of Blue Mound State Park (one day $5 reduced rate admission helps support the state park). Cyclists start in southwest corner of the Village of Blue Mounds, are released individually on the minute, travel west on ID, north (downhill) on K, southeast (uphill) on Mounds Park Road, west and (uphill) on Mounds Road and finish at the top of Blue Mound. Total distance is 10.0 miles.
With the top of Blue Mound touching the clouds at 1716 feet the total elevation gain is almost 1,200 ft. This time trial to the top of the state park presents a challenge to cyclists and a tune-up for those who may be participating in the Horribly Hilly Hundreds a week later. Cyclists may use road bikes or time trial bikes. If there is interest we will include a Mountain Bike and Fat Tire category. A time trial is a race against the clock. No drafting or assistance from others. Cat. and Age group winners computed from elapsed time. Those participating in the MidAmerica Time Trial Series (MATTS) may participate in any of the MATTS categories. Open riders may sign up for the appropriate age group categories. American Bicycle Racing (ABR) provides the insurance for this race.
