Baraboo Bike Trials Competition

Sep 14

When

Sep 14 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This will be second annual Baraboo Bike Trials competition. Hosted at a private farm in Baraboo WI, just minutes down the road from the Wisconsin Dells, the first competition in 2023 was a great success. Riders from all over the country and even Canada stopped by to put their skills to the test. We had everything from Elite national champions, to beginners who had never heard of Trials before, and everyone had a great time regardless of their skill level.

This private farm is Trials paradise, endless rocks provide riding opportunities for all skill levels. The area is covered by a big tree canopy that not only makes it very picturesque, it also provides shelter from the weather, making the spot very rideable under any conditions.

We will have categories for all skill levels and experience, as long as you have a bike with knobby tires and flat pedals, you are good to go!

Classes:

– Novice / Mountain Bike (Grey gates)
– Sport (Blue gates
– Expert (Red gates)
– Elite (Yellow gates)

About Bike Trials:

If you are not familiar with bike trials competitions, here’s a crash course! Riders will take on 5 different “sections” of obstacles, which will each have 6 different gates that they will have to ride through in order, without skipping any, while only letting the bike tires touch the ground or any surface. There will be two laps, allowing riders to go back to a section and improve on their score by fixing mistakes. Each section has a 2 minute time limit

Riders will be penalized for putting a foot down, or “dabbing”. On each section, riders have a maximum of 5 dabs they can use, if a rider dabs 5 times in a section, they will not be allowed to continue riding that section, but they will keep however many point they have accumulated until that point. Putting both feet down at the same time is an automatic 5, the rider will not be allowed to continue on that section.

Points are gained by successfully riding though gates. Each gate completed will earn the rider 10 points, for a potential maximum of 60 points per section. If a rider dabs while going through a gate, or on the way to a gate, they will not receive any points for that gate. They still need to go through it, as no gates can be skipped.
