Biking to Create a Safer Future for Cyclists and Pedestrians.

A rally for change and remembrance, the 2023 Ride for Your Life is expected to draw hundreds of people to Madison’s Capitol steps on Sunday, October 1, 2023, demanding safer street initiatives from lawmakers of all parties.

U.S. diplomat and Oconomowoc native Sarah Langenkamp was riding her bike in Bethesda, Maryland when she was tragically hit and killed by a flatbed truck in August of 2022. Her husband, Dan Langenkamp, organized the first Ride for Your Life in her memory, and now Madison, WI hopes to continue this legacy ride. Cyclists will bike 5-6 miles (and pedestrians will walk 1 mile) through the city to the steps of the State Capitol for a rally to raise awareness around the need for pedestrian and cyclist safety and infrastructure.

Beginning at 2:00pm in Brittingham Park, the ride will be held in memory of Sarah, Tom Heninger, and the many other cyclists and pedestrians who have needlessly lost their lives on Madison streets and around the country.

Registration is free and open to all. Find more details and sign up. To guarantee your shirt size preference, please order by September 7. Shirts will also be available at the event, but sizes will be limited.
